Folio is a personal photo diary. It is built to keep your memories private. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what Folio does and does not do with your information. The short version: your diary stays yours. Folio has no servers of its own, runs no analytics, shows no ads, and never sells your data.
When you create an entry, Folio saves your text and the details it reads from each photo (camera, lens, exposure, film recipe, date, and — if present — the place a photo was taken). This information is stored on your device and synced across your own devices through your private iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. It is held in your personal iCloud container, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The developer of Folio cannot see, access, or collect this data.
On supported devices, Folio's writing helper, Mira, can suggest diary text by looking at your photos. This uses Apple Intelligence and runs entirely on your device. Your photos and the suggested text are not uploaded to the developer or any third party for this feature. On devices without Apple Intelligence, this feature is simply unavailable.
If a photo contains location information, Folio uses it to show where the moment happened (for example, “Lewes, Delaware”). To turn coordinates into a place name, those coordinates are sent to Apple's mapping service, handled under Apple's Privacy Policy. Folio does not track your live location and does not store a history of your movements.
Folio is free, and every feature stays free. You may optionally leave a tip to support development. Tips are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Folio never sees or stores your payment details.
Folio is not directed to children under the age of 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new “Last updated” date.
